Can we review ourselves?
Well, why not? We thought it would be a terrific way to see if we were getting it right for our guests
As we had a short break in our bookings at the end of April we decided to stay as visitors in our own property. So, my husband, our 8yr old son, myself and two pooches packed up a few things from home and arrived at Dune Haven in Goonhavern for the weekend.
Ok we are not your typical holiday makers as we still had work, school runs, dog walks and after school clubs to do but we did manage to relax and unwind. As it was the Bank holiday weekend and the weather was good, we enjoyed a lovely alfresco dinner one evening. I sipped wine on the decked seating area while hubby tended the BBQ and our son and pooches ran around the garden. The decking is a real suntrap and as we ate dinner it felt like being abroad but eventually the sun went down, the garden birds started singing their evening song and we were reminded that it was only late spring and it got pretty chilly, so it was great to get back into the warm bungalow with its cosy sofas and throws.
Dog Walks
There are plenty of dog walks to do right on the front door, from the local park to country lanes and footpaths, you can enjoy getting a bit lost, but the views are worth it! The beach at Perranporth is a must, with 3 miles of golden sand, rock pools, caves and even a tidal pool to swim in. It’s perfect for all the family and is also dog friendly all year round with so much space to run and have fun. Walk a little or a lot, either way we found our Cocker spaniel and pug puppy were happy and tired on our return.
Local Pub
One day we didn’t fancy cooking, so we popped to the local pub “The New Inn” just a short walk from Dune Haven and had a big Sunday Roast! It was delicious with crisp roast spuds, huge Yorkshire puddings, tender meat and fresh vegetables, we cleared our plates and felt completely stuffed but there is always room for pudding, right? So, a homemade sticky toffee pudding with Cornish clotted cream swiftly followed. We left the pub with its warm friendly atmosphere feeling happy and chilled.
Monopoly
Our final night was spent eating the leftover food and treats and finishing off our game of Monopoly which lasted the whole stay! It was fun as we never seem to find the time at home to enjoy a board game. After putting our son to bed (top bunk of course) and letting the dogs out in the garden for their final sniff about, we sat down and felt proud of our place and hoped that all our future guests also have a wonderful time on holiday at Dune Haven as we did!
